Moo Moo’s – BroadBeach

The Drinks

The Wine list here is just amazing, Pages and pages. A wine for everyone, White, Reds, Roses & Sparklings. Along with the Spirit and Cocktail offering it was just great.

We started the night with Cocktails from their signature list. The Port office Fizz, Consisting of Vodka, Aperol, Passionfruit and Lemon  & The Pavlova on the Park which had Ketel One Vodka, butterscotch liqueur, Licor 43, Passionfruit and egg whites. They were both so yummy and a great way to start the night. ‘

After finishing those it was time to switch to wine and as it was my birthday I opted for a bottle of my Favourite red a Cabernet Sauvignon from the Barossa Valley Langmeil ‘Blacksmith’. It was just perfect a subtle smokey hint and a great choice to go with the Beef.

The Food

To start the Menu looked great and as it was a special occasion for my birthday we opted for ‘The Moo Moo Signature’.  This did take an hour to cook but that was just fine as we were not too hungry on arrival. We decided to just have some bread rolls as an entre as room for dessert was needed. The Red tomato salsa was so delicious, it just exploded in the mouth.

The Food arrived and we honestly thought we had made an error as it was so much for 2 people. Consisting of 1kg of Wagu Rump steak with the chefs special seasoning cooked to a perfect medium rare. On the side some duck fat potatoes and a rocket salad and a trio of sauces. The Beef just melted in the mouth perfectly and we cleared the plates it was the most tenderly cooked beef I have eaten in Australia and well I have eaten a lot of steak and beef.

It was time to look at desserts and there was no way that we were not leaving without them. I Opted for the Rhubarb & Green Apple Pie, Yoghurt Ice Cream + Apple & Clove Gel. OMG, it was so delicious light and fresh, the perfect way to end the meal.

Matt went for the Hot Fudge Sundae ‘Moo Moo’ style – rich chocolate brownie topped with vanilla bean ice cream lashed with hot fudge + finished with house-made crunchy honeycomb. Another great dessert, however, the honeycomb was too tough to eat and it had to be picked up to eat it and became a little messy but that was honestly the only critique.

The Service

We were greeted at the door and was given the perfect corner table so we both have comfortable seating for the meal. Our Waiter was amazing form the moment of arrival to when we left and we had a nice chat with him too. Glasses of all water wine and cocktails were constantly filled up and we were checked on several times during the meal. It was such good service so thank you.

The Overall

The Food, Drinks, and service were pretty much perfect from the moment of arrival to when we finished the meal. The Quality of the Food along with service made our experience at Moo Moo’s very pleasant and it was a great place to spend my birthday evening and I would call this a place of fine dining which there is not much of on the Gold Coast. We will both be back for sure to try out some of the other dishes on the menu.

Three Little Pigs Bar & Bistro – North Tambourine

The Drinks

They have a good selection of drinks here, I went for a Sparkling wine which was nice and fruity with Bubbles which is always nice and Matt opted for the Masarto as its one of his favourite wines.

The Food

So, for starter we opted for the garlic bread to share, it was full of buttery goodness and lots of garlic, being homemade was a great touch it was so fresh and came out hot as it should. It was the perfect amount for 2 to share.

Garlic Bread

Time for Mains, I decided on the Beef fillet which was cooked perfectly to medium rare and it came with sides of broccoli and a mushroom along with a beautiful sauce to finish it off.

Matt went for the Pork Belly and he said that it was one if the best he had ever eaten, due to the fact that it was super crispy on top but super soft in the middle. It was served with a fresh dressed salad and some mustard potato mash so again a very good dish.

The Service

This place I would call fine dining, the service from being seated to leaving was great and even though they were busy still took the time to check the food was ok.

The Overall

The Food, Drinks and Service here was great. This place I would say is much for a special occasion than just lunch out as our bill came to just under $100. I did like the face that mains came with sides and you did not have to order more as that’s how sometimes where the meal adds up. I will be back for sure but on a special occasion and will for sure be ordering deserts.

L.A BURGERS – SOUTH YARRA – INVITED

THE DRINKS

Frozen Custard Based Milkshakes! WOW they were good, Thick and creamy full of flavour opting for 2 different ones the Salted Caramel and the Wild Berry. Both very different but both made from vanilla custard.

The Salted caramel sweet and full of caramel but not that overly sickly sweet it had the perfect balance. The Wild Berry fruity and fresh and it left the palate with a clean feeling which is nice after a shake.

shake

They have a wide range of other flavours including Vanilla and then four different chocolate based ones. I am sure there is a well made shake here for everyone to choose from.

THE FOOD

The Choice of Burgers here is again good, there is one for everyone. Double Beef, Spicy, Bun-less, Cheese-less and even a few chicken choices.

Group

We Ordered the Venice Beach and the Wiltshire Blvd. One beef with added jalapenos for spice. Bacon added of course and for only a $2 add on its very reasonable. Now i am not the biggest fan of sauce and in here there are 3, Ketchup, Mayo & Mustard but it did not bother me in the slightest as there was small amount to balance the ingredients and the burger was eatable without it sliding everywhere. The Wiltshire Blvd, Chicken, Cheese, Bacon , Pineapple, Lettuce and Aioli. Looked and tasted good but out of the two i would recommend the beef as it has more flavour.

FoodBurgerBurger BIte

The Sides, There is a wide selection and 3 sizes which is always nice. We went for the shoestring fries and Potato Gems both in the small size and again at $3 very worth adding on. The fries were nice and classic and the Gems, were also good but i’m  not a fan of Hash Browns so i am probably not the best person to Judge them.

THE SERVICE

Here it is order at the Counter, then go and collect when the food is ready. So you expect average. Now i was here on an Invite so My food was brought over too me but the service did not stop there Peter the owner was also very active in checking people food was ok and on an occasion where one man came to collect his food and it was on two trays rather than making him come back twice he picked up the other tray and took it up to the table which i though was a great gesture and goes above the service you would expect here.

THE OVERALL

The Drinks, Food and Service was all good here and if your after cheap burgers with great prices i would recommend it as a place to come. However there is so much competition in Melbourne recently with both Burgers and Frozen Custard. I Love the space here its spread over two floors and it has the LA Feel with Palm trees on the wall. When summer comes you will fell like your in a classic LA Burger bar. Its the Ideal place for a Lunch of a dinner and i will be back soon to try some more of the delicious Shakes, Food and maybe even try the custard next time.
